Lysning
Lysning is the warm-light counterpart to MPuls's dark folklore game Mørke — same well of Nordic myth, opposite mood. No combat, no timers, no fail states. Just a quiet clearing, the four seasons turning, and something old and kind watching over the house.
You've inherited your grandmother's overgrown gård in a sunlit forest clearing. Take your time.
- 🌾 Tend the farm — till, plant, water and harvest across the seasons. Crops only grow when they're cared for.
- 🍲 Keep the Nisse content — leave porridge (with a knob of butter, as your grandmother insists) at the barn. He speeds your crops, guards the animals, and appears at the edge of sight when he's fond of you. Neglect him and he only sulks — never cruel.
- 🌲 Befriend the folklore — Hyldemor of the elder tree, Fossegrim who teaches a tune by the brook, shy Huldra at the forest edge, the dawn-dancing Ellefolk, and a certain pond spirit who is "different after dark…" Friendships deepen over many visits.
- 🐐 A living homestead — hens and a goat, foraging and cooking, weaving, fishing the brook, and a travelling pedlar who barters for cottage decorations.
- ✨ A farm that heals — as you tend the land it visibly comes back to life: a mended well, new fields, a lush grove, and a shrine at the heart of the clearing.
- 📖 Grandmother's letters — her story unfolds page by page, and the Journal slowly fills with folklore lore.
Read a letter. Cook the porridge. Watch the light change. Come back tomorrow.
